Meet Mary

Who is Mary you ask? Mary is the beautiful piece of machine you see to your right. She is a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu who's been re-engineered to be a series-parallel plug-in electric hybrid vehicle. This means she runs on E85 ethanol and grid electricity from a high-voltage battery system.

 Along with her FlexFuel engine, she now has two electric motors and an integrated high-voltage battery system. She has quite a lot of junk her trunk with seven lithium-ion battery modules installed. These are housed in her energy storage system, or ESS. If you're lucky enough to find her at night, maybe you'll see her illuminated rear end.
